Our November Book Reviews

The book 'Cool' by Michael Morpurgo is very good. It starts with a road accident involving the two main characters, Robbie and his dog Lucky. Over all I'd rate it six and a half out of ten because I thought it was a bit predictable.

Gone by Michael Grant
'Gone' is a book where everybody over the age of fifteen disappears and a giant impenetrable barrier appears. Normal is no longer existent and kids start killing each other.I would give it 8/10.


Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.
Kensuke's Kingdom is about a boy named Michael who goes on an adventure around the world with his Mum and Dad. One night he falls off the boat with his dog and gets stranded on a island.
Kensuke helps him get off the island and they become great friends. Truly amazing, 9/10

Zom-B by Darraen Shan
Zom-B is about a girl named B who is at school when the zombie apocalypse happens and her and her friends have to escape the school. There is a lot of twists in this story. Very well written, 8/10

The Outsiders by S.E Hinton
The outsiders is about a boy called  Ponyboy  who goes on a adventure it's full of well structured dialogue that tells the story in different perspectives.Breathtaking,9/10

Stay Where You Are and Then Leave
Stay Where You Are and Then Leave is a great war-themed book set in World War One. The book follows a young boy named Alfie as he  struggles without his father. But something bad has happened, and Alfie must save him. I love this book 10/10

The Phone Goes Dead by Anthony Horowitz
The Phone Goes Dead is about a boy called David and a girl called Isabel who believe that they own
things that are being haunted by the dead. I really enjoyed reading this book and would give it 9/10.

The One Dollar Horse by Lauren St. John
'The One Dollar Horse' is about a girl called Casey who lives in a very delapidated part of London.  She wishes she could ride in the Badminton Horse trials.  One day she saves a horse from the knackers yard and she manages to train it. I really liked this book and I would rate it 9/10

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman
Northern Lights is about a young girl named Lyra who lives in a world where a part of a human's soul lives with them in an animal form, called daemons. When Lyra's friend, Roger goes missing, Lyra and her daemon set out to find him. This was an incredible read. 9/10

The Wildflower Girl by Marita Conlon
This book is about a young girl named Peggy and her journey to Boston after the Great Irish Famine.  I give this book 10/10
